Mayor and ChiefThe Vienna Police Department's public information/community relations officer is the best contact for residents and media who are seeking information about the department. MPO Juan Vazquez can field just about any inquiry.

The public information/community relations officer also is available for speaking engagements. Presentations on nearly any police-related topic can be tailored to the needs of any group, class, or organization.  The officer also is responsible for fingerprinting services, incident inquiries, personnel training, DARE program administration, and business and home security inspections.

Community programs and services

In the 2018 National Citizen Survey, Vienna residents overwhelmingly expressed confidence in theCunningham Park School safety of the community and services provided through the Vienna Police Department. Ninety-seven percent of survey respondents rated as excellent or good their overall feeling of safety in Vienna, and 90% rated services provided by the Vienna Police Department as excellent or good – both of these ratings are higher than most benchmarked communities across the country.

These strong ratings reflect, in part, the Vienna Police Department’s commitment to community policing. Community policing requires officers to interact with residents, shopkeepers, and visitors on a regular basis and to do so always with professionalism and accountability. Community policing means that our police officers are an integral part of the Vienna community. In addition to being an integral part of everyday policing, the Town’s community policing philosophy is evident through many of the community programs offered by the department.

Fingerprinting

The Town's fingerprinting program is based on availability for Town of Vienna residents only. Appointments are required. Those interested or in need of fingerprinting should contact MPO Juan Vazquez by email or at 703-255-7845.

Those interested or in need of fingerprinting who reside outside of the Town of Vienna limits should contact the Central Records section at the Fairfax County Government Center at 703-246-2272.

Child safety seat inspections

Did you know that a correctly installed child safety seat is snug and moves no more than one inch from side to side at the seat belt path?  To ensure that Vienna’s youngest residents are traveling safely, the police department performs car seat inspections for Town residents only, free of charge.  Child safety seat inspections generally are scheduled on Tuesdays. Contact Sgt. Conor Tracy by email or call 703-255-7818 to schedule an appointment.  Please install the child’s seat in your vehicle before arriving at the police station for inspection.

Personal Safety for Women

For more than 30 years, the Vienna Police Department has proudly offered, in partnership with the Rape Aggression Defense System, a course that provides realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women.  This 12-hour program focuses on risk awareness, reduction, recognition, and avoidance in conjunction with basic physical self-defense techniques.  Scenario training in a safe and controlled environment is utilized to develop and enhance informed decision-making and strategic self-defense tactics.

Eye-to-Eye pedestrian/bicycle safety

The Vienna Police Department reminds pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers to make eye contact with one another.  When pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers see eye-to-eye, crashes and injuries are reduced and lives saved.  No matter who has the right of way, all parties at intersections and crosswalks should travel defensively and make eye contact with other travelers before proceeding.
