Native Plant Sale
May 6, 2023

Vienna Community Center

Mark your calendar! A large selection of native plants will be offered for sale. All plants are raised and sold by Hill House Farm & Nursery, which specializes in high-quality native plants. Plants include flowering perennials, native shrubs, and small trees. These plants attract birds, bees, and butterflies, all of which are beneficial to the home landscape. Check out the Plant List here.

This year, Hill House Farm & Nursery can take your order in advance by email with the subject line, CSC Spring Plant Sale. Orders placed would then be picked up in person during this event. Please email all pre-order requests before May 2, 2023.

For more information about the Native Plant Sales and the CSC, or an opportunity to host a booth, reach out by email or call Alan Chen at 703-319-8610.

Preserving and Managing the Town of Vienna’s Tree Canopy

The Conservation and Sustainability Commission undertook a volunteer effort to explore ways the Town of Vienna could enhance its ability to preserve and manage its tree canopy.  We looked at how Vienna could retain, replace, and add trees, particularly in light of increasing teardown/new home development throughout the Town.  Also find a link to Town’s recently released Urban Tree Canopy Assessment.

About the Conservation and Sustainability Commission

The Town of Vienna embraces its obligation to current and future generations to foster a healthy, safe and sustainable community.  The Conservation and Sustainability Commission (CSC) helps the Town achieve these goals by addressing a broad range of energy, environmental and natural resources issues.

The CSC encourages residents, local businesses and the Town government to undertake conservation and sustainable practices.  The CSC engages in education and outreach, develops community initiatives and plans and recommends policies and programs to the Town Council.  The CSC is made up of 10 resident-members, including two student representatives.

Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month, except November and December when meetings are on the third Thursday, and in April when the CSC hosts the Green Expo.
