The Town of Vienna is part of the Hunter Mill District of Fairfax County. The county is home to more than 1.1 million diverse individuals and more than 37,000 businesses, including about a dozen Fortune 500 companies. Several services available to Town of Vienna residents are provided through the county, including the public school system, fire department, public transportation, parks, elections, health department, and libraries. And, yes, Vienna residents pay Fairfax County property taxes as well.

The Hunter Mill District supervisor, who is elected to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, provides constituent services to district residents, including those who live in the Town of Vienna. The Board of Supervisors establishes policies and ordinances, sets local tax rates, and approves budget and land-use plans for the county.
