Vienna Town Council is composed of a mayor and six councilmembers.  Town Council establishes policies, passes ordinances and resolutions, approves the Town budget, sets tax rates, approves land-use plans, and makes appointments to Town boards and commissions. Council also hires the town manager and appoints the town clerk and town attorney.

Meetings

Town Council meetings and conference sessions are open to the public.  Residents may address Councilmembers about items not on the meeting agenda and during public hearings.  While conference sessions are open to the public, there is no opportunity for public comment.

Town Council meetings are held twice monthly at 8 p.m. on Mondays, except in July and August.  Conference sessions generally held once per month at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays except in July and August.  Several budget conference sessions are held in March.

Town Council meetings are streamed live on the Town’s website and broadcast live on TVCN, the Town’s cable access channel, channel 27 on Cox and channel 38 on Verizon Fios.  Council conference sessions are not broadcast.
