Nonprofit and charitable organizations may apply each year to display a banner over Maple Avenue for up to two weeks.  Specific display dates are assigned through a lottery managed by the Department of Public Works and Town Manager's office.

To enter the lottery to display a banner the following year, complete a banner application between the first and last business day of November.  For example, applications to display a banner in 2024 must be received no earlier than Nov. 1, 2023, and no later than Nov. 30, 2023.  Applications must be submitted with a $150 refundable deposit paid in cash or by a check made payable to the Town of Vienna.

Banner requirements and specifications are included on the banner application, which is accessible online during the month of November.

Priority is given to Vienna-based organizations or for banners promoting Town-sponsored events.  Banners must not contain a commercial message, logo, religious symbol or message.  The Town Manager has sole discretion to reject any banner application if the message, event or appearance of the banner is deemed to not be in the best interest of the Town of Vienna.
