The town manager's office provides leadership and administration of day-to-day operations of the Town of Vienna. Working closely with Town Council, employees, and Vienna residents, the office ensures that quality services and programs are available to meet the needs of Town residents and the business community.

Town Manager Mercury T. Payton oversees more than 189 employees, an annual operating budget of more than $40 million, and a multi-year Capital Improvement Plan budget of more than $34 million. The town manager is appointed by Town Council, and department and division directors report directly to the town manager.

To provide residents with project updates and an opportunity to ask questions, the town manager hosts a casual, monthly community forum called On Deck with Mercury generally on the second Tuesday of each month.
