Trips for Adults Ages 55+

Travel with us

The Town of Vienna plans a variety of fun and interesting day trips for adults ages 55+.  Enjoy museum and garden tours, performances, flower shows and more.  All trips for adults ages 55+ depart from the Vienna Community Center.  Bus trips include gratuity for drivers.  Register for trips via WebTrac, using the trip number, or in person at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry Street, SE, during operating hours. 

All of our trips feature activity level icons as guides to the type of itinerary and level of challenge you can expect to encounter while traveling with us. Please refer to the Programs and Events Guide for the activity level for each trip so you can make sure you find the right trip for you. Summer trips

"Jersey Boys" @ Toby's Dinner Theatre (this trip is full)
Wednesday, July 24
9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

The fascinating evolution of four bluecollar kids who became one of the greatest successes in pop-music history! JERSEY BOYS takes you behind the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Discover the secret of a 40 year friendship as they work their way from the streets of Jersey to the heights of stardom. Filled with chart-topping hits including: “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “Dawn,” and “My Eyes Adored You,” which brought them their highest honor: induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Included in your ticket fee is a 25-item salad bar, carving station, and a plentiful buffet. Toby’s is one of the few regional dinner theatres featuring a live orchestra.

"Murder on the Orient Express" @ Riverside Center (this trip is full)
Wednesday, Aug. 14
10:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again! Before the show we will enjoy a three-course, chef-prepared meal served by an experienced staff of waiters. The ticket price includes the meal and show.

Mature Adult Adventure Daze  

Do you still have the adventurous spirit you had when you were a kid? If you are an active older adult between the ages of 55-80 who finds joy in the outdoors and nature, then these summer day-trip experiences are just for you. Come have fun, form friendships and be ready for adventure! Fee includes van transportation, a morning snack, and a one-of-a-kind aluminum water bottle. Please plan on paying for lunch at a nearby restaurant for each trip. This program is limited to the first 10 participants, so register early!


Discovery Hike at Great Falls (this trip is full)
Monday, Aug.  19
8:15 a.m.-3 p.m.

Join a National Park Service Ranger and walk approximately one mile along the Patowmack Canal Trail. Enjoy sites of the historic canal and explore the complex stories and ecosystem that makes up Great Falls Park. Learn about the life of early native Americans, its flooding history, geology, and historical significance. Water bottles and closed toe shoes are highly recommended. Lunch will be on your own at The Old Brogue.

Skyline Caverns (this trip is full)
Wednesday, Aug. 21
9 a.m.-3 p.m.

In 1937 Walter S. Amos exposed secret caverns in the Shenandoah Valley that had lain beneath the earth’s surface for 60 million years. On our one-hour tour, a knowledgeable guide will escort our group through the caverns, explaining the geological history while challenging our imagination, making our tour educational, exciting, and entertaining. There will be time to visit The Skyline Caverns gift shop and Skyline Caverns Rock Shop offering a unique selection of gemstones and minerals from around. the world. Lunch will be on your own at PaveMint Smokin’ Taphouse.

Horseback Riding at Fort Valley Ranch (this trip is full)
Tuesday, Aug. 27
8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Come enjoy a morning one-hour ride through the Shenandoah mountains, with cool shaded trees, crossing a creek and riding alongside a waterfall. When riding at the ranch, you will experience the tranquil setting of the woods, often spotting wildlife, like a turkey, deer, raccoon or snake. Their horses are fitted for beginner riders. After our ride we will have time to visit their General Store and have a campfire lunch provided by the ranch

Splatter Paint Room
Thursday, Aug. 29
10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Join us for a unique creative experience at the Splatter Paint Room in Manassas, Va. Enjoy an hour of wild fun throwing paint around at a 16×20 canvas in a super unique Splatter Paint Room! You will be provided with a full body jumpsuit, goggles, gloves and 6 stock colors (white, black, red, yellow, green, and blue). Splatter paint art technique does not require special skills or training and is fun for all ages. Even if you have never painted, you will get an original finished artwork along with great stress relief. Lunch will be on your own at El Rey Tolteca.
