Extended Women’s Right to Vote. This amendment declares that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.  2020 marked the 100th Anniversary of this amendment.

Join us for a special evening under the stars at the Town Green: The Liberty Amendments Movie Night! This isn’t just a movie night, it’s a celebration inspired by the 19th Amendment and celebrating the resiliency of women and girls!

Be inspired through a family-friendly film, and enjoy “Liberty Snacks” on us, courtesy of our local businesses and town departments. Each snack comes with a bite-sized piece of knowledge about the 19th Amendment. Come, celebrate, learn, and have fun!

Kids on the Green, Story time and more!
10 a.m. at the Vienna Town Green
Story time led by Emmanuel Lutheran Preschool followed by a performance from Kofi Dennis- Anansegro of Ghana- African  drumming, dance and song. 

 

*Trip* National Museum of Women in the Arts
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

 Enjoy a private group tour of the museum’s exhibition “Remix: the Collection” showcasing familiar collection favorites as well as never-before-exhibited recent acquisitions. Artworks are grouped around themes, in some cases anchored by a medium and in others by an idea, that resonate among global artists across time, including photography, fiber works, the colors red and purple, nature, domesticity, and more. Lunch will be on your own at the Mezzanine Café in the museum.

Empowering Women, Celebrating the 19th Amendment
5:45 p.m.  at the Vienna Community Center, Seeman Auditorium

5:45-6:30 p.m. – Vienna Business Association Mixer- – Celebrate the remarkable women and men in the Vienna community with food, drink, and conversation. Participate in our icebreaker for a chance to win prizes. A drawing will be held at the end of the event.

6:30 p.m. – Empowering Women Panel Discussion featuring; Mayor Linda Colbert introducing Liberty Amendments Month, Holly Seibold, Virginia State Delegate 12th District as moderator, Leigh Kitcher producer of the Exhibit “Getting the Vote: The Women’s Rights Movement”, Heather Buescher Aeronautical Engineer with Northrop Grumman's Launch Vehicles Division,   Dr. Jessica Henderson Boyd, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Unity Health Care, and Lydia Russo, founder of One Neighborhood Foundation. 

Each speaker will reflect on how their work impacts and empowers women. The discussion will close with a question-and-answer session.
